Tracey Antista, B.A. K-6 Reading and Writing Special Education Resource Teacher
Flowing Wells Unified School District

Mrs. Antista is a special education teacher who is passionate about advocating for students as well as finding the right tool to help them succeed. One way she has great success with her students is by helping students learn how to help themselves through the use of tech tools. This technology also has empowered her to create dynamic and innovative lesson plans with activities that support engagement. One of her best memories was having the honor of being on a national keynote speaker panel for ASHA Schools. Her 10-minute advocacy brought a standing ovation. Mrs. Antista’s experiences of presenting has brought her joy knowing she has helped other educators bring tech tools to their classrooms; many times this has caused a ripple effect across campuses. Her focus has always been to ensure attendees leave with various tech tools they can use on Monday in their classrooms. Presently Mrs. Antista serves as the membership chairperson and assist with advertising for AzCEC. She was recently awarded the Samuel Kirk Special Education Teacher of the Year award and the PIP Award Grant. Most recently she was given the honor of being named one of the top 100 special education teachers by the International Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) for her use of technology in the classroom. Century Link awarded her a $5,000 Grant, which has allowed her to purchase various tech tools to enrich the lives of students. She has been featured in EdTECH magazine, Tucson Citizen, and her resources have been published through ISTE’S Project ReIMAGed as well as the CEC resource HUB. All this to say she never imagined she would love tech - since her career began in the 1990’s tech was a love-hate relationship. It's been a floppy disk to AI journey!

Expertise: Essential Elements of Instruction, Universal Design for Learning, Assistive Technology, iPad Technology, Learning Without Tears and various RTI/SRSD methodologies.
